Ahmed Hamlaoui: Steazzi in North Africa

We had the pleasure of talking with Ahmed Hamlaoui who represents Steazzi for North Africa and especially Algeria. A big thank you for your involvement and for all the steps taken to make handball even more popular. A big thank you also to the team on the field who are involved on a daily basis.

Ahmed, can you introduce yourself? Where do you coach?

Ahmed Hamlaoui - Franck Louesdon

I am Ahmed Hamlaoui, an elite handball coach in Canada and a confirmed trainer-evaluator by the Canadian Olympic Handball Federation and the Coaching Association of Canada in the province of Quebec, in collaboration with the Quebec Olympic Handball Federation.

I am also a Certified Professional Coach by the Coaching Association of Canada and Steazzi representative for North Africa. I support Algerian coaches for the presentation and practical training in the use of Steazzi.

I officially started coaching in the 2000s with the IRBEH club, in the large city of El Harrach in Algeria. Since 2006, in Canada, I have held the position of head coach in different categories, girls and boys, from U10 to seniors, in several clubs in Quebec, including Laval, Celtique, CHAC Montreal and Champlain, as well as in the school and regional leagues of the south shore of Montreal.

Currently, I am a coach at CHAC Montreal, where I work with U10 and U12 girls, in a training and development center.

Tell us about Steazzi in North Africa

My goal is to introduce Steazzi into championships and training courses in Algeria and neighboring countries. To do this, I have put together a team to:

✅ Organize online and face-to-face training courses.

✅ Develop a strategy to encourage and motivate young coaches and experienced coaches.

✅ Implement a pedagogical approach focused on skills acquisition, beyond traditional academic training.

I proposed Nadia Benzine (see her article) as a reference trainer for Algerian coaches. A former international and former national coach of the U21 girls, she is an expert who supports coaches directly on the field.

Algeria is a big country. Over time, our technical, training and communication team has expanded:

  • Adel Omari: management, organization and communication.

  • Haithem Djawed: support for coaches during their apprenticeship on Steazzi and specialized in Eastern Algeria.

  • Mohamed Chouaiibe: support for coaches in Southern Algeria.

  • A new resource will soon join the team for Western Algeria.

All our experts come from the world of handball and have specialized higher education. Thanks to social networks and our expert colleagues in North Africa, we maintain constant professional relationships.

Steazzi's presence in Africa

Next April, we will organize an online presentation for female handball coaches in Côte d’Ivoire. Our colleague Mrs. Blassony Koffi, sports executive, physical education and sports teacher, judo teacher and founding president of the NGO Sport Au Féminin (NGO SAFE), will be our referent and responsible for communication in Côte d’Ivoire.

Steazzi Training Management

Steazzi training courses in North Africa are organized according to several key principles:

📌 Flexibility in management and communication: trainers master digital tools and different training platforms.

📌 Online and face-to-face training according to the methodology developed by us.

📌 Post-training follow-up: each subscribed trainer benefits from personalized follow-up and receives a certificate of success after validation of their first work.

The goal is for each trainee coach to acquire new skills that can be immediately applied on the field. Steazzi supports coaches who are invested in the development of their teams. Steazzi management has also offered three premium subscriptions to three deserving Algerian coaches.

What is Steazzi's place in Algeria?

Last year, we were invited to a scientific seminar in Oran, organized by Director Habidache Kerdache. During this event, we presented Steazzi at the INSF (National Institute of Sports Sciences) in Oran.

We also participated in several national tournaments and our team was present at the National Elite Ladies Tournament.

Steazzi is an easy-to-use application, both for training athletes and for analyzing high-level competitions. We have supported coaches of all levels and we are proud to see coaches trained by Steazzi active in the Arab world.

Today, in Algeria, Steazzi is known in all categories and in all clubs. The desire to learn from Algerian coaches motivates us to always do better. Their active participation allows us to continuously improve the solution.

What are your medium-term goals?

🎯 An asset for coaches: allowing them to better manage their team thanks to statistics and video analysis.

🎯 Advance elite athletes: help them move to the next level thanks to a detailed sports CV that highlights their career path and performances.

🎯 Support the training of young athletes: analyze individual and collective performance, identify areas for improvement and propose solutions adapted to training and competitions.

🎯 Integrate statistical analysis into coach training: give them the skills needed to become operational and efficient at all levels.

Steazzi encourages young talents: A nod to Samy

Among the statisticians, we have young Samy who is an example to follow. He is progressing quickly in this specialty!
